Announcement of Opinions for Thursday, June 6 Complete

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Supreme Court has issued a decision on whether the U.S. Food and Drug Administration overstepped its authority in regulating tobacco products.

The Court also heard a challenge to the Food and Drug Administration's decisions over the regulation of electronic cigarettes.

The Court appears ready to reject former President Donald Trump's claims of sweeping immunity from lawsuits related to his actions while in office.

The Court also appears poised to back former President Barack Obama's use of executive power to create a program that provides health insurance to low- and moderate-income Americans.

The Court in December took up the Biden administration's appeal in defense of the later FDA decisions but has not yet issued a ruling.

The Court has adjourned after hearing oral arguments in a case involving the scope of the president's power to fire federal officials.
